The selection for the contest will be conducted online for the sake of economy. However, money for a mandatory contribution for participation has not yet been found.
The National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine intends to conduct a selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 despite total underfunding. However, the national selection will be conducted online, which will minimize costs.

Participation in the international song contest involves a number of costs. Funds are required for the qualifying tournament, and for the European Broadcasting Union, which is compulsory for each participating country.

All these expenses, the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine can not cover underfunding conditions. That is why it was decided to conduct a national selection on-line, which will significantly reduce costs.

At the same time, the problem with the payment of annual membership fees in the EMU remains unresolved. Also, there is no money to ensure the participation of the Ukrainian delegation at the international stage of the competition.

The NOTU hopes that the state will fulfill its obligations and allocate additional funds. This is provided by the law “On Public Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine”.

It is known that this year instead of the expected UAH 1.54 billion, the government allocated only 776 million hryvnias to NOTU.

Earlier it was reported that the Accounting Chamber found “extra” 130 million hryvnas, which were spent by NOTAT for Eurovision-2018.
