In Belarus one of the local TV channels carried the “language” poll on the streets of the cities in order to know how many respondents understand the Belarusian language and unable to talk to him. A journalist faced with a complete lack of understanding.
“On our way, and speak in Russian!”, — asked the middle-aged lady.
“I don’t understand Belarusian,” said the pensioner.
“I’m in the Belarusian can’t talk,” faltered the young man.
“You must be the Ukrainians,” suggested one lady. The reporters assured her that they are Belarusians. “And what you did in Ukrainian rozmovlyayu”, — she wondered.

All other respondents admitted that they do not understand the Belarusian language and asked to talk to them in Russian.
