The Security Service of Ukraine suspects that the Russian company “Yandex”, which is on the “black list” of Kiev, transferred Russian intelligence services data of Ukrainian users. The Russians assure us that they did not do anything like that. This was reported by the agency TASS.
Note that on Monday, May 29, the SBU came to the Ukrainian offices of Yandex with searches. Siloviki said that such measures are carried out within the framework of the criminal case under the Criminal Code of Ukraine “treason.” According to the version of the investigation, the company transferred personal data of its Ukrainian users (first of all, officials and employees of law enforcement agencies) to Russian special services.
Commenting on the situation, Yandex was assured that it was not their fault, and the protection of personal data is “the highest priority” for them.
At the same time, the company’s employees admitted that they could easily transfer the data of Ukrainians to Russian law enforcement officers with the appropriate court order, or at their own will.
Recall, May 15, the President of Ukraine signed a decree on the extension of sanctions against the Russian Federation for 1 year, as well as the expansion of the sanctions list. The document, inter alia, provides for the blocking of Russian social networks in Ukraine (Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki), Yandex search engine, Mail.ru mail, antivirus software (Kaspersky Lab and DrWeb), as well as a number of TV companies (“Star”, “VGTRK”, “TNT”, “NTV”, “REN-TV” and others). In general, 468 legal entities and 1238 individuals involved in the aggression against Ukraine got to the “black list” of Kiev.
