Norm broadcast on the radio songs in Ukrainian increased from 30% to 35% since 8 Nov.
This is stated in the transitional provisions of the relevant law, transfer “Ukrainian news”.
The document envisages the introduction of a rule according to which the share of songs in the state language should be during the first year after the entry into force of law no less than 25%, the second 30% and third (2018) – 35% of the total time of the songs broadcast during the day, and over the time periods from 7:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 22:00.
In addition, it is determined that the implementation of the broadcasting broadcaster, broadcasting musical works, including songs of the official languages of the European Union in accordance with the terms of the license, be at least 60% of the total amount of songs distributed throughout the day, including at least 60% of the total amount of songs distributed in each time period from 7:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 22:00, must ensure that the proportion of songs in the state language not less than 25%.
In addition, 8 Nov broadcaster in the exercise of radio broadcasting are obliged to ensure that at least 60% (instead of 50% and 55% in past years) daily total broadcast, including the information and analytical units, entertainment (speakers, presenters of programs) in the state language.
For failure to meet standards expected penalty of 5% of the total amount of the license fee.

The newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada “Voice of Ukraine” reported that after the adoption in the first reading the law “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language”, some publishers are skeptical of some provisions of the bill.
The Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on issues of freedom of speech and information policy Victoria syumar said: “We are involved in the preparation of amendments to the bill on the Ukrainian language in the context of a gradual transition into the Ukrainian language publications”.
