The final question of the creation in Ukraine of the so-called “one national Church” should be resolved not on the level of ambition of individual politicians, but only by popular vote, which was attended by representatives of the various Orthodox sects of the country.
This personal opinion in the comments correspondent of ГолосUA expressed the European analyst Knut Berg.
According to experts, in recent years the idea of unification of Orthodoxy in our country turned into a PR individual politicians who have no moral or legal right to consultation and debate on a religious topic.
“In Ukraine the Church is separated from the state, however, the representatives of the authorities lobbying their own electoral programmes, part of which is a matter of faith, stressed in particular, he said. – Local politicians in the literal sense of the word should be trying to distance itself from participation in Church battle”.
At the same time, K. Berg noted that the holding of such Referendum, official Kiev has neither the desire nor the time.
We will remind, recently the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew announced the decision of its structure to grant the Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which will represent the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kiev Patriarchate. This decision was supported by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy and hundreds of Ukrainian political and public figures.
