The international Monetary Fund (IMF) will not pay Ukraine the next tranche until the budget is adopted-2019.
About it in interview to the Voice of UA, said the expert in international relations Andrew Buzarov.
“The IMF provides the loan funds only after the country will fulfill its obligations. Ukraine was put forward a few demands. One of them is the reduction of tariffs in line with international standards. It is meant to adjust gas prices according to the formula düsseldorf+. In addition, the most important document, which is always detailed and carefully analyzed by the Fund is a state budget. Given that at the moment there is only a draft budget from the Cabinet, sent for approval to the Verkhovna Rada, under the most favorable circumstances, a tranche can be expected not earlier than December,” said A. Buzarov.
The expert also drew attention to the importance of implementing the Third energy package of the EU.
“The implementation of the Third energy package, as part of the Association agreement with the European Union, is an important requirement, both the IMF and the EU” – said A. Buzarov.
According to him, traditionally, the topic of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund is being actively discussed in political circles.
“There are both supporters and opponents of these relationships. For cooperation with the IMF supports the party of the incumbent President – BPP “Solidarity”. But the opposition forces mainly against interaction on current conditions. In particular, active demand to renegotiate the terms of the agreements IN the “Fatherland” Yulia Tymoshenko and the party “Opposition bloc” Boyko”, – said the analyst.
Recall that the current program for increased funding of the IMF to Ukraine started in 2015 and completed in spring 2019. The country has already received 8.7 out $ 17.5 billion under the program.
