New project for the Disney studios. Like many other films before it, the Hunchback of Notre-Dame will be entitled to its adaptation in live-action. The project has just been announced.
Disney continues to focus on remakes of his greatest hits, in live-action. While the Dumbo Tim Burton has to go out in the spring, and as the trailer for the Lion King has created a wave of emotion among the spectators, the house with the big ears would have chosen to turn to the preparation of another project : a new version of the Hunchback of Notre-Dame.
The story of Quasimodo the bellringer and the beautiful Esmeralda, inspired by the novel of Victor Hugo, had won a very good critical reception at the time of its release, even if the viewers had not all been convinced. However, Disney decided to give it a second life. At the present time, it is too early to discuss the casting, but according to the us website Deadline, the director has already been chosen : this isHenry Hwang, known for having staged many plays and musicals.
The adaptation of the Hunchback of Notre-Dame will be in effect in music, as the iconic Alan Menken, who was responsible for the music of the original film, will make its big comeback in the team. He intends to adapt his own songs, as had been the case for the remakes of beauty and The Beast or d’Aladdin.
