The government will use the law on language quotas on TV channels as an attempt to influence the media.

“The government can appeal to the law about language quotas on TV to try to close unwanted channels. She may try to do monitoring to see how the channels perform the act. Given that we are in an election campaign, the results of such monitoring with the National Council for television and radio broadcasting can be such that they disliked the channels will not fully adhere to language quotas. The national Council can formally use this as an excuse to on certain channels further unannounced inspections”, – said A. Yakubina.
He said that in this way the national Council will try to influence a policy of TV channels.
“The Council often takes quite a biased decision, not for the benefit of the media”, – summed A. Yakubina.
We will remind, on Saturday, October 13, entered into force a law that obliges the national television channels to broadcast at least 75% of broadcasting in the state language.
