In March the European Parliament will consider the draft resolution on the EU’s refusal of the agreement on partnership and cooperation with Russia.
Initiative was put forward by the MEP from Latvia Sandra Calne, reports rosbalt.
The paper proposes to cooperate with the Russian Federation “point” – only in areas of “mutual interest.”
The MP said that the EU and Russia will remain key economic partners. However, in her opinion, the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2” you need to stop in order not to aggravate the EU’s dependence on Russian gas.
Also referred to cases of “violation of democratic principles” and “fundamental values” of Russian authorities, including attacks on human rights defenders and activists, harassment of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, the oppression of the Crimean Tatars in the Crimea, cyber attacks and “murder in Europe committed by the Russian scouts with the use of chemical weapons.”
In addition, according to Calne, Russia is still not fulfilling the Minsk agreements.
