“In Ukraine there is a myth that churches and religious organizations in medicine is only dealing with sanctification of premises and equipment. It is very unfair myth, but it is widespread and deeply rooted. Religious representatives have a huge psychological help to people struggling with illness, and their families. Also very important is their support of health workers. Medical chaplains support patients and physicians around the world and, for example, they are in 70% of hospitals in the United States,” she wrote.

Religious organizations in Ukraine are also working closely with medical institutions. Across the country them constantly held charity events and fundraising for new equipment, drugs and medical services.

Today for the first time after a long break, started the work of the Public Council under the Ministry of health of Ukraine on cooperation with all-Ukrainian Council of Churches and religious organizations.

“Among the priorities – strengthening the prevention of citizens, education, psychological health. Very glad to meet you today. Will make every effort for the effective implementation of planned and constructive cooperation,” wrote the acting Minister of health.

Also, earlier, Suprun said that the patient in hospitals must only be transported feet first.

“Sometimes, the belief in the superstition conquers common sense. Especially surprising when you see faith in such things as “bad omens” among physicians – people who are in decision-making should be guided by facts, evidence-based medicine and to be experts on logical thinking”, she said.
