The state Duma of Russia gave the President the right to determine the categories of foreign citizens and individuals without citizenship, who are entitled to apply for Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.
The government bill adopted on third and final reading on December 18, reports Ukrainska Pravda, citing rossm.
According to the explanatory Memorandum, this will allow you to take Russian citizenship primarily residing “in countries with complex socio-political and economic situation, where armed conflict or unconstitutional change of political regime”.
According to the head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov, the bill will help to solve the problems of obtaining Russian citizenship in the first place the refugees from the Ukraine.
The bill also simplifies the procedure for the participants of the state program on assisting the voluntary resettlement in Russia of compatriots living abroad.
According to the document, individuals that will be included in the President certain categories of applicants for citizenship under the simplified scheme, exempt from the following mandatory requirements: a five-year period of residence on the territory of the Russian Federation, a confirmed legal source of livelihood, the output of the existing other citizenship, knowledge of the Russian language.
According to first Deputy head of the faction “United Russia” Andrei Isayev, the notice of renunciation of citizenship of a foreign state is especially important for the citizens of Ukraine.
“In Russia, they are, according to various estimates, 3-4 million, and some are not going to return to Ukraine. One of the requirements for citizenship is the citizenship of another state, but the Ukrainian authorities are in no hurry [him] to confirm”, he said.
