Releasing their first solo album, JOY Red Velvet chose the theme of remakes of Korean hits from the 1990s-2000s to perform. Previously, JOY had received praise because the color of his voice matched the old songs. Even the six songs that JOY performed on this album are also his favorite songs.
“Some of the songs are my own favorites. I used to sing them a lot, so I’m honored to be able to remake them. I also want to thank the original singer for giving me permission to remake this masterpiece~
Because all of these songs are masterpieces, I try to show the best voice and vocals without drastically changing the original emotion of the song,” said JOY in the presscon special album HELLO.
Release Live Version of ‘Je T’aime’
Before releasing the album and MV HELLO, JOY had already released a live version video of Je T’aime. It turns out that there is a special reason why the 1996-born star chose Je T’aime to be released before the album and title track.
“Seeing the fans’ reactions (on ‘Je T’aime’) made me impatient to bring it. While listening to ‘Je T’aime’, I was very satisfied. And Yoo Young Jin (SM producer) who was also listening through the recording monitor told me ‘You sing it well and I like it because it touches me like a spring breeze.’ Because this song received a positive response from the team, I decided to release it first,” he explained.
When holding a special press conference for his album, JOY was accompanied by WENDY Red Velvet as MC. JOY also revealed that his members gave him a lot of support.
