The President of Russia Vladimir Putin approved the military doctrine of the Union state of Russia and Belarus.
The corresponding decree was published on the website of the official Internet portal of legal information of the Russian Federation, reports the observer.
“Approve submitted by the government of the Russian Federation draft military doctrine of the Union state. To consider it expedient to approve the military doctrine of Union state the decision of the Supreme state Council of the Union state”, — the document says.
The document was adopted on the basis of the doctrines of Russia and Belarus in 2001. Russia adopted a new version in 2014. Due to the fact that Minsk plans to change its strategy document, the member of the Committee on national security house of representatives National Assembly of Belarus Sigmund Valjevac suggested that the Federal government should also consider a new version of military doctrine.
Later the representative of the Belarusian General staff Artem Butorin said that the draft military doctrine is scheduled to be presented to the Union Council of Ministers in 2018. According to Butorina, military doctrine is intended to reflect the views of the two countries for the security of all the Union state.
Union state Secretary Grigory Rapota admitted that the draft document will be included in the agenda of a future session of the Supreme state Council of Belarus and the Russian Federation.
