Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy paruby signed the law “About features of use of St. Andrew’s Church National preserve “Sophia of Kiev” (No. 9208), which is now adopted by the Parliament.

Earlier, on 18 October, the Parliament adopted the law “On peculiarities of the use of St. Andrew’s Church National preserve “Sophia of Kiev” (No. 9208), submitted by the President of Ukraine. For this decision voted 237 deputies.
Not vote in full faction “Opposition bloc” faction of the Radical party voted “for” all three deputies from the group “Renaissance” – one of the group “will of the people” – six. During the first voting the Parliament has not garnered sufficient votes – a total of 216, but then the Parliament adopted the document in first reading and as a law.
The law establishes that St. Andrew’s Church, located in Kiev on Andreevsky descent, 23 (which is an outstanding object of cultural heritage, monument of architecture of national value), as places of worship, state-owned, is donated to permanent use of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the accomplishment of divine services, religious rites, ceremonies and processions.
