An international group of scientists found that the presence of relatives of centenarians increases the chances of a long life from other family members. About it reported in a press release on MedicalXpress.
The researchers analyzed the pedigrees of 315 thousand people from 20 thousand families for which data were collected from 1740. It turned out that the risk of premature death decreases with increasing number of relatives of centenarians. If the parents lived for a long time, the probability of death is reduced by 31 percent. In this case, the centenarians the researchers believed those who got 10 percent of the people characterized the highest life expectancy, reports Lenta.
The risk of death was reduced in the case that longevity was not the parents, and uncles and aunts. According to scientists, this indicates that parents can pass on longevity genes, although some external factors reduced their life expectancy. The researchers hope that the results will help to identify the appropriate DNA.
