At the age of 33, Keira Knightley embodies the novelist Colette, in the biopic in cinemas on January 16 next. In an interview to Gala, the british actress spoke about her private life. Married since 2013 with James Righton, a former member of the band Klaxons, and is the mother of a little girl named Edie (4 years), the star of the saga “Pirates of the Caribbean admits he has always given his heart to men. When the reporter asked her if she has already fallen in love with a woman, she responds cash : “You want to know if I have already slept with a woman ? Well, I’m not going to respond to this question”, before finally confide : “I was attracted to girls in the past”.
She then came back on the time when, after having kissed a friend at a prom, she has had problems with his school. “It was fifteen or sixteen years old… We kissed under the balloons as all the world, and the photo that immortalized the scene has been deemed by management as being ‘inappropriate'”, she laments. Fervent advocate of the LGBT cause, Keira Knightley thanks her mother for having brought up in an environment tolerant of everyone : “My mother and the other members of my family were organizing marches in Scotland to support the gay community. I grew up as well, in a spirit of solidarity and openness to others. I have a lot of gay friends and I feel really good with them”.
The film Colette with the actress and Dominic West will be in theatres on January 16. This year, Keira Knightley will also be on the poster of Hearts enemies (scheduled for 3 April) in which she will give a reply to Alexander Skarsgård and Jason Clarke.
