22-year-old actor Jimmy Bennett issued an official statement explaining why he suddenly decided to talk about sexual harassment from Asia Argento – five years after the incident, during which the actor was 17 years old.
I did not tell my story, because I wanted to understand this issue personally with the person who offended me. My trauma was again felt when she herself (Argento, – Ed.) Became a victim. I did not make a public statement, because I was ashamed and scared to become a part of public history. I was a minor when it happened, and I tried to achieve justice, so that it made sense to me then. I was not ready for the consequences of my story to become public.
At the time, I believed that in our society to get into such a situation the man was shameful. But I had to go through a lot in my life, and with this I will also manage. Today I decided to move forward and no longer be silent,
– he declared.
Recall, on Sunday, The New York Times published an article in which it said that Argento and Bennett had sexual intercourse in 2013 (which was illegal because of the actor’s minority).
The 42-year-old actress on Tuesday responded to Bennett’s accusations and stated that she had never entered into sexual relations with him.
I was deeply shocked and wounded when I read the news that was false,
– she said.
Nevertheless, she stated that her former lover, Anthony Burden, had paid Bennett a large sum when he began to blackmail Argento and threatened to tarnish her name.
The Western media received records of conversations between Argento and her friend, in which she said that she did not know that Bennett was a minor, and that in France and Italy, by law one can have sexual intercourse from 15 years.
Asia Ardgento, by the way, was one of the first actresses who accused of harassment of the famous producer Harvey Weinstein.
