International monitoring of the situation in the Kerch Strait will not resolve the conflict in Azov.
This commentary, ГолосUA said political scientist Ruslan Bortnik.
“International monitoring of the situation in the Kerch Strait will not resolve the conflict in Azov. Russia is trying to demonstrate maximum transparency in this matter and win the favor of the West. This is no good will not result”, – said R. Bortnik.
According to him, if the European observers will monitor the process of the passage of vessels in the Kerch Strait, Ukraine will be obliged to use the services of Russian pilots and navigation.
“That is, de facto, to use the services of the structures that are now working in Crimea. The entry of international observers will mean their actual presence in the Crimea. In favor of Ukraine, it will not play,” said R. Bortnik.
Recall, the foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that Kyiv supports a possible international mission in the Kerch Strait, as proposed by Germany. “If the international presence can help us here, and they (the government) will not be manipulating her, we certainly welcome this, and it should be fixed,” said the Minister.
He expressed the hope that the German partners were productive talks with representatives of Russia.
