The UEFA Executive Committee has adopted the decision about the use of the system VAR in the Champions League in this season’s competition.
During its meeting in Dublin, the Executive Committee of the European football Union has approved the introduction of videophones arbitrators (VAR) in the main European club tournament from 1/8 final. Thus, the technology has already been successfully operating in the European Championships, will appear in the Champions League in February 2019, reports politeka.net.
According to UEFA, this decision is based on the successful testing of the system and training of judges in recent months.
The Executive Committee also decided to use a VAR in the Europa League final 2019 in Baku, the final stage of the League of Nations in 2019 and the final stage of Euro-2019 among youth teams.
In addition, VAR will be used later also in the Champions League-2019/20 1/8 final in Istanbul and the UEFA super Cup 2019, the final stage of Euro 2020, the UEFA Europa League-2020/21, starting with group stage and final stage of the League of Nations 2021.

Note that the European football Union will also create a new tournament for European clubs. Its launch is to be held in season 2021/22.
