Thursday in Sweden, the United Nations launched the first peace talks between the conflicting parties in Yemen.
About it reports “UKRINFORM”, citing Reuters.
“On Thursday in Sweden, in one of the castles near Stockholm, begin the first peace talks brokered by the UN between the parties to the armed conflict in Yemen – the Pro-Iranian Houthis and Sunni coalition with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen officially recognized by the government”, – stated in the message.
The main merit in organizing these talks belongs to the special envoy of the UN Secretary General Martin Grphcs. His last attempt to bring parties to the negotiating table in September, as you know, failed.
As reported, the war in Yemen continues in 2015 and has already claimed over 10 thousand lives and caused a humanitarian crisis in the country. The conflict started with the fact that husite who call themselves fighters against a corrupt regime and deny its ties with Iran, dropped the official Yemeni government and took the capital, Sana’a.
