London police Monday, December 31, arrested 39 people on suspicion of attempted murder.
The arrests occurred after was discovered by a man with a knife wound, the AP reports citing British police.
It is noted that in Hammersmith, West London at about midnight they found a man aged around 30 years old with stab wounds.
Police said the mass detention was needed, as the suspects refused to cooperate with police officers after the attack.
“The victim was chased several suspected men and women after a quarrel in the store,” police said.
It is also noted that near the scene were found two knives.
Then the suspects entered a neighboring residence where the party took place. They were arrested after officers were unable to get anyone to answer questions about the strikes.
According to superintendent Mark Lawrence, the detention of 39 people were “appropriate” because of the need to obtain “substantial evidence”.
According to police, the victim is in critical but stable condition.
