Honorary renaming of the street in honor of the King of Pop Michael Jackson (Michael Jackson) in Detroit was canceled.
On Friday, the Randolph Street site was to be renamed Michael Jackson Avenue, next to the Detroit Opera Theater, but this will not happen. The naming ceremony was announced last month and was due to take place during the Detroit Music Weekend festival, in which the remaining members of Jackson5 became the headliners.
It turned out that they want to rename the street in honor of the whole group, not just Michael, so the process was postponed.
