The head of “Naftogaz” Andrey Kobelev has no right to criticize the contract on gas supply between Ukraine and Russia in 2009, as he was a direct developer of this contract.
This was stated by the expert on energy issues Valentin Zemlyansky, who at the time of signing of gas agreements in 2009 was a representative of the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda in Ukraine.
“Let me remind you that Mr. KOBOLEV at the time of conclusion of the contract on gas supplies between Russia and Ukraine Advisor to the Chairman of the Board NAK “Naftogaz Ukraine”. He was directly involved in the development of the contract. Moreover, he was present at the negotiations in Moscow and expressed no objection to its main provisions”, – said Valentin Zemlyansky.
As a witness to the events of 10 years ago, Zemlyansky was reminded that the signing of the contract between “Naftogaz” and “Gazprom” on the eve of 2009 was thwarted by the intervention of the then President Viktor Yushchenko. After two weeks of the gas embargo by Russia, when in the midst of the January frost gas was neither Ukraine, nor Europe, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has made the resumption of negotiations. The contract, which was signed in the end, it was typical for all European countries. It contained a special discount for Ukraine, and protective complaint mechanisms, which ultimately allowed the team to achieve positive KOBOLEV Ukraine solutions in the Stockholm arbitration.
“So today’s criticism of the agreement-2009 by Mr. KOBOLEV is not even the wickedness, and testing of a direct political order. And at the same time attempt to transfer the attention from a few problems,” – said the expert.
“The first problem wants to “speak” COBOL – it’s millions award, which he has written himself and his surroundings and had brought from abroad. The second problem is the complete failure of the negotiations on a new contract on Russian gas transit through the territory of Ukraine”, – said Valentin Zemlyansky.
We will remind, in interview of radio “Freedom” Commissioner of the Czech Republic in matters of energy security Vaclav Bartushka said that Ukraine and Russia are on the verge of a new global gas conflict caused by the failure of both parties: “Now Russia and Ukraine are approaching some kind of new conflict on gas transit via Ukraine before 2020. If there is a new conflict between Ukraine and Russia in 2020, both countries will lose.”
