On Twitter, James Wan, the director of’Aquaman, pushed a rant against those who defended his film with a little too much fervor… Explanations.
Real tsunami at the box-office world (749 million of global revenues close to two weeks after its release, and number 1 in France with 940 000 entries), the movie Aquaman continues his fine performance, beating the Bumblebee and The return of Mary Poppins. Yet, the adventures of super-heroes DC played by Jason Momoa are far from unanimous. In addition to the criticism more than a mixed bag of the specialized press, the film directed by James Wan causes a debate on the Twittosphère, between the defenders of the blockbuster and his most ardent detractors.
On social networks, the two camps engaged in a battle of arguments to incense or destroyed the film, his interpretation, his script, his dialogues, or his aesthetic. And the words chosen are sometimes virulent… A storm of passion that is not to the liking of James Wan, which has cracked a tweet Sunday, December 30th, to calm this little world :
“I’ve learned that some people were being harassed by fans because they didn’t like Aquaman”, he posted Sunday night. “Please, don’t do that. This is not the kind of support that I want. Please be respectful. And vice versa, it is OK not to love my film, but you don’t need to attack me personally, or notify me to pour your hate. Peace.”
