The Treaty banned nuclear missiles with launching ranges of 500 to 5,500 km. Signed by Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, it led to the destruction of almost 2,700 missiles, middle range and end the dangerous standoff between the USA and the USSR.
It is noted that the trump Advisor for homeland security John Bolton, a longtime opponent of the treaties on arms control. He said that Russia violates the agreement of 1987.
Under the terms of the contract, for the United States will require six months.
“Russia, unfortunately, has not fulfilled the agreement, so we’re going to terminate it,” said trump.
Washington believes that Moscow is developing a ground system in violation of the INF Treaty. Russia denies it is a violation.
Trump said that the United States will develop weapons if together with Russia and China will not be signed new agreement. It is also reported that Bolton will visit Moscow next week.
The experts, as the newspaper writes, claim the most serious since the 1980s the crisis in nuclear arms control.
On 18 October it became known that Russia is upgrading silos for the storage of nuclear weapons in the Kaliningrad region.
