The head of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that “the exchange of prisoners is difficult because of the impropriety of the Ukrainian colleagues on this issue”.
He said this on Friday on a press-conferences following the results of participation in the meeting of the Council of foreign Ministers of the OSCE, reports RBC-Ukraine.
“A year ago, the experience was partly successful, partly because something unexpected happened the list was agreed by the Ukrainian side, Donetsk and Lugansk, we are helped in this matter, verified there were dozens and even hundreds of names, they were read and crosschecked several times. And when these people were brought to the place where I was supposed to be an exchange, the Ukrainian side said that 23 people can’t be released because they were included in this list by mistake. This uncleanliness is not very helpful for continuing discussions on the exchange”, – he said.
Lavrov said that Russia “was the initiator to write to the Minsk agreement item that calls to exchange all for all”.
“Just the Ukrainian side, when it starts specific approval lists, constantly trying to include persons who are not related to the events in the Donbass”, – stressed the Minister.
Lavrov also said that negotiations about a possible release of the captured in the Kerch Strait the Ukrainian seamen may start after completion of trial.
According to Lavrov, the sailors are under investigation, and are awaiting trial. He also added that their visits the Commissioner for human rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova.
“Once the trial is complete, then we can talk about how their destiny is to alleviate or to agree on any concrete measures,” Lavrov said.
Meanwhile, earlier the head of the Ukrainian Navy offered to exchange himself for the captured sailors.
