For the mission of the International monetary Fund (IMF), the results of the visit to Ukraine is positive, as it achieved its objective – to raise the price of gas for Ukrainians.
This commentary, ГолосUA said political scientist Ruslan Bortnik.
“For the IMF the results of the visit to Ukraine is positive. In particular, the negotiation of gas prices and the state budget for the year 2019. It agreement with the Fund to determine the socio-economic policy for the next year. Their goals the mission of the IMF clearly made. Ukrainians will raise the price of gas”,- said R. Bortnik.
According to him, the price of gas for the population will rise gradually.
“The rising cost of gas will pass in three stages. Most likely, this fall by 20-30%. All the rest of the increase will try to move after the presidential election. For Ukraine, the IMF mission’s visit is not good. For Ukrainians, every visit turns into a narrowing of socio-economic support. Our government is dependent on external donors and are unable to borrow on favorable conditions for the country and use their economic development. We have loans taken in order to give back previous payments,” said R. Bortnik.
We will remind, the government agreed with the IMF to gradually increase gas prices to the level of import parity until 2020.
