At the moment there is no reason to believe that the protests in Paris can lead to a change of government in France, because there is a tendency to reduce the activity of the protesters, but it is safe to say that they put a cross in the second presidential term of Emmanuel Macron.
This opinion in comments to the correspondent of the voice of the UA said the head of the Ukrainian Institute of policy analysis and management Ruslan Bortnik.
“At the moment the main voltage has been removed, as the French government has made concessions in terms of economic requirements. So at the moment the protests continue rather out of inertia, because they have lost rational justification for most of French society,” said the analyst.
Therefore, according to R. Bortnik, yet there is no compelling reason to believe that these protests can lead to a real coup in the country. In order to make this happen, need to happen the real incident out of the ordinary.
“However, now it’s safe to say that the protests of “yellow jackets” put a cross in the second presidential term of Emmanuel Macron. This is evidenced by the drop in his popularity to 20%. And after concessions to the protesters, this figure is likely to even decrease. And even the French, who had previously supported him, could refuse his support in the future” – the expert believes.
However, the analyst said that while there is no compelling reason to believe that these protests can be beneficial to any external forces, for example, Russia or the United States.
“Evidence that would substantiate this theory is still quite small. If to speak about the real causes of the unrest, they always have their roots in the economy. These protests arose largely situational, however, it cannot be denied that many political players in France trying to use the protests for their purposes,” said R. Bortnik.
Recall, today, December 8, throughout France held a protest of the “yellow jackets.”
French media reported 700 arrests across the country, including 598 arrests in Paris.
In the media clarify that the mobilization of protesters lower than last Saturday – 31 a thousand to 36 thousand a week ago. Figure 31 thousand protesters confirmed in the government of France.
Police conducted numerous checks, withdrawing diving goggles, protective helmets and other attributes of the protesters.
