The adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the law on which the labels will disappear caloric and shelf life suggests that by and large we want to make labeling was in Europe.
This commentary, ГолосUA economist Alexander Okhrimenko.
“But what if it can work in practice – not very believable. Because we have not all European initiatives are implemented in practice. In this case, our MPs just took the European standards, something added and voted, believing that this new labeling should show the consumer more objectively, what he buys,” – said the expert.
According to him, if you can work this system in Ukraine – hard to say, because often our producers indicate on the label is not what is contained in the product.
“For example, we specify that a product is one thing, but in the meantime we specify completely different. Thus, we can say that it is one thing to pass a law and quite another to adopt it in practice. In addition, even if the manufacturer fully write the product, our people often do not read. To summarize, we can say that this law was adopted in the framework of the agreement on Association with the EU. The price of food because this law will not grow, they may go without marking”, – concluded Alexander Okhrimenko.
As reported, on December 6 the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading and in whole draft law No. 8450 “information for consumers regarding food products.”
