The number of US troops sent to the border with Mexico to assist border guards, until the end of Monday (local time), will reach 5.2 thousand people.
This was stated Monday at a briefing the official representative of the Ministry of defense Colonel Rob manning, reports UNN.
“The rest of the day in the southwest border region would be deployed 5.2 thousand soldiers. The defense Ministry expects that more than 7 thousand soldiers will soon be to support the border service”, – he said. Manning recalled that last week the Ministry of defense has announced that it will receive 5.2 thousand troops, part of which will be armed on the border with Mexico. He explained that the soldiers support the border guard service and not charge the “True Patriot” (Patriot Faithful) to combat illegal migrants.
Manning stressed that the us defense Department will disseminate information about the number of troops deployed on the southwest border. He did not answer the question about how much cost the defence Ministry sending troops to the border, but noted that “the Pentagon will cover all expenses”.
The official representative of the Ministry stressed that the military police will protect the employees of the Ministry of defense, which are on the border. “Self defense is an inalienable right of an American soldier. The military police, the only military personnel on the border (with Mexico) that have weapons,” said the Colonel, adding that the soldiers involved in the operation, will not receive cash bonuses for participation in hostilities, as the border – “not a combat zone”.
Manning also pointed out that soldiers “do not plan to interact with the protesters or migrant” at the border. He denied widespread media reports that the military should engage in the construction of accommodation facilities for migrant families.
As previously reported, the United States sent more than 5 thousand troops on the border with Mexico.
