The national Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has expanded the potential uses of remote identification of individuals through electronic remote identification BankID.

About it reported in a press-service of the regulator.

A corresponding revision will provide an opportunity to use this system as a tool of identification of natural persons for the provision of banking services such as account opening.

The decree also determines the conditions and procedure for connection to the system BankID NBU, the procedure for using this system; the procedures for remote identification of individuals; the order of transmission of the identification data in the system; requirements for the protection of information in the system.

“Citizens in the near future, you will be able to remotely banking and other services. This will only need to Bank user connected to the system BankID NBU. Banks will be able to open accounts to individuals remotely. Other participants – legal entities and non-banking companies – will be able to start providing their services remotely by means of the identification using the BankID system NBU”, – says the Director of the Informatization Department of NBU Volodymyr nagornyuk.

The decree comes into force from 5 November 2018.

Recall, the NBU started the project BankID in 2015. The implementation of the system aims at creating the possibility of banks of Ukraine electronic remote identification of customers and provision of Ukrainian citizens remote access to many public and administrative services.

Currently, the NBU is the owner of the system and governs the relationship between the subscribers participating in the system. Note that now the system has a Oschadbank Radabank, the number of banks is at different stages of preparation, testing, and connection to the system.

According to information provided by Ukrainian banks as of 1 January 2018, more than 13 million physical persons-clients of banks use self-service their accounts, this is more than three times more compared to the end of 2016.
