Germany is stepping up military kiberbezopasnosti to respond to Russian hybrid threat, aimed at German troops deployed in Lithuania.
This was stated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a meeting with the German military stationed in Lithuania as part of a battalion of NATO, reports “European true” with reference to The Local.
“Here you are faced with a situation, which is another part of Russian military doctrine: the idea of a hybrid war,” – said Merkel.
NATO allies have accused Russia of using the methods of “hybrid war”, including subversive activities, propaganda and cyber war to undermine the West without a full military response of NATO.
“Hybrid war is not something we are not used to. You obviously feel it here in a very particular way,” added Merkel.
“No wonder we have created a special Karadeniz in the German armed forces, to strengthen capabilities in this area,” she said the military at the base in Rukla, in the North-West from the capital Vilnius.
In the past year, Germany has deployed more than 500 soldiers to Lithuania, within the framework of the NATO mission to strengthen the Eastern flank.
