On the eve of the midterm elections in the US, Facebook has blocked about 115 user accounts, which, according to law enforcement, may be associated with a foreign organization.
This is stated in the blog post, the company with reference to Reuters reports “Ukrainian truth”.
The social network said that it is necessary to conduct further analysis to determine whether these accounts with the Russian Agency Internet research (trolls factory), or another group.
Eighty-five deleted accounts published their records in English in the network Instagram, owned by Facebook, 30 accounts have been associated with a page in French and Russian languages.
Some of them “have been focused on celebrities” and others in “political debate”, he added.
Information about these accounts came from the Federal Bureau of investigation on Sunday night, said Nathaniel Gleicher, head of the cyber security policy of Facebook.
“Americans should understand that foreign actors and, in particular, Russia continues to try to influence the mood and perception of voters through actions aimed at inciting hatred, including through social networks,” said officials.
