St. Andrew’s Church is in the list of objects not subject to privatization, and it gives the Cabinet for use.
Comments about this correspondent of ГолосUA said MP of Ukraine, theologian, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on culture and spirituality Viktor yelenskyi.
“First, I have not seen this bill, and secondly I don’t know why we need the bill because this Church is in the list of objects not subject to privatization, and it gives the Cabinet for use. When Tymoshenko was Prime Minister, she gave the use of Avtokefalnoj Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She’s a year and a half on the repair, but as far as I know, the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church supports the fact that there were representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate”, – said the Deputy.
According to Viktor yelensky, with regard to the fact that according to the press Secretary of the UOC KP yevstratii Zorya after receiving the Thomas half of the parishes of the UOC-MP will join a United Ukrainian Church, it will not be a rapid transition.
“This requires preparatory work, because the parish you can go, but there will be many bishops, who have the same title. Relatively speaking, the two bishops who have the title of Cherkasy, Volyn or. And this is unacceptable from the point of view of the Orthodox canons. That is not to say that this can happen like an avalanche,” said he.
Recall President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the coming days will register in the Verkhovna Rada a bill which proposes to transfer permanent use of the St. Andrew’s Church to the Ecumenical Patriarch. Lutsenko noted that it would be a symbolic gesture of “unity with mother-Church”.
“The President supports the desire to obtain an early Thomas. In solidarity with this process makes a symbolic gesture. The other day will be registered the bill, which President Petro Poroshenko proposes to transfer St. Andrew’s Church for permanent use to the Ecumenical Patriarch, a symbolic gesture that the Holy Andrew in his time baptized Ukraine. It will be a symbolic gesture of unity with mother-Church,” – said Lutsenko.
