Losses of Ukraine from the construction of the Russian “Gazprom” gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” could reach $ 3 billion a year.
On 15 September, said the head of Board NAK “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Andrey Kobelev during a speech at the forum of Yalta European strategy (YES).
“Nord stream-2″ is a much broader problem than just the gas issue. It concerns the security of Ukraine and it is no exaggeration to say that for us it is a matter of survival,” – said Kobolyev.
“If we don’t have gas transit, it will open doors to a full-fledged military invasion of Russia to Ukraine. It is not only a question of money Naftogaz or Ukraine, but also a security issue. Not only ours, but of the whole of the European Union”, – said the head of the NAC.
According to him, Ukraine currently receives about $ 3 billion per year due to transit.
“If “Nord stream-2″ now start, after 2 years, the project can be completed. Once that happens, all the calculations show that the transit of gas through Ukraine will no longer be”, – said Kobolyev.
He noted that in this case part of the transit will move to the “Turkish stream”, everything else – the “North stream-2”.
“For us it will be a huge loss – $ 3 billion or 3% of our gross domestic product, which is a huge amount,” – concluded the head of “Naftogaz”.
At the end of July, Nord Stream 2 start to enter into the first tube within the construction of the controversial pipeline “Nord stream-2”, in which natural gas will be directly delivered from Russia to Germany.
In August work will begin on the laying of pipes. The construction of a controversial gas pipeline “Nord stream-2”, against which rise sharply Ukraine, the Baltic States and Poland and the United States is scheduled for completion by the end of 2019.
