According to Novak, Ukraine gas talks may take place in the second half of January, not December 11 as previously planned. At the same time, Novak noted that prior to that scheduled meeting at the expert level.
“Yesterday, we were talking with Commissioner (Maros – ed.), maroš Šefčovič. At his suggestion the meeting has been moved to January. Planned to meet on December 11. Now from the European Commission received a proposal to hold a meeting in the second half of January,” he said.
We will remind, earlier about the transfer of gas talks in January reported by the Brussels correspondent of “Radio Liberty” Rikard Jozwiak. According to the journalist, previously it was assumed that the negotiations will take place before Christmas.
Note, the validity of the contract on the transit of Russian gas to the EU from 2009 expires on 1 January 2020. Until that time, the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” expects to complete unbundling of the company by passing the gas transportation assets to a new independent operator GTS – the company “Trunk gas pipelines of Ukraine”.
