The Administration’s explanation of the President on the signing of an agreement with Bartholomew look unreliable.

“There is no doubt that the President is entitled to sign it. Accordingly, the contract has no legal force. It’s just a Declaration of the parties. If this international agreement, Poroshenko can’t put it into effect. It has to do with his decision to Parliament. Yet the document having no legal force. However, it needs to justify the presence of Constantinople on the territory of Ukraine and the actions of the government to intervene in religious Affairs. This is expressly prohibited by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine”, – said R. Bortnik.

According to the analyst, the law, which Poroshenko signed, does not pass St. Andrew’s Church to the Patriarch of Constantinople.

“This law requires the government to develop a process for the transfer of this Church to the Patriarch of Constantinople. Accordingly, the government will be responsible for it. It is expected the lease agreement, which shall conclude the government with the Patriarchate of Constantinople. The President signed the law adopted by the Parliament in order to get electoral dividends and the PR on this. In order to proceed with an informational series about the Tomos, which is to distract from the tragedy of Catherine Gandzyuk, increasing tariffs and all the problems that exist today”, – said R. Bortnik.
